Lingfeng Wang (he/him)

Ph.D. student

About

Lingfeng graduated from Yunnan University with a BSc in Statistics and spent his final year in University of Plymouth with a BSc in Statistics in undergraduate study. His final year dissertation was titled 'Analysis of factors influencing survival time in patients with glioblastoma'.

After the Bsc, he insisted on studying statistics and completed his Msc in Statistics from University of Glasgow. His master dissertation was titled 'Nowcasting hospital deaths from COVID-19 in London'.

Following this, he changed his interest in time series in Internet of Things (IoT) field and devoted himself to the occupant behavior (OB) in the smart building. Now, he is a PhD student in the School of Mathematics, UoB and supervised by Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Fabian Spill. The further research will be focused on the occupants random moving path in the smart building.

Lingfeng is always open to collaborations in applied mathematics and statistics. Please feel free to contact him or discuss about the relevant topics.

Research Themes

Research Projects

His research interests focus on building space utilization and in particular in the simulation of the occupancy in the smart building. Meanwhile, he interests in mathematical statistics, medical statistics, financial statistics and time series in the applied mathematics field. Currently, his project is based on data obtained from IoT sensors and focuses on reducing costs (such as energy cost), optimizing space usage in buildings, and predicting of occupants' random moving modeling.
